Harvest Monday 2/14-2/20 2012

More spinach, and our first beautiful peas (Sugar Magnolia Purple Snaps from Redwood Seeds)

PEAS! Finally some yummy peas, they tasted amazing. We were not sure if we were ever going to get any since we planted so late in the fall. They managed to over winter and produce! We also had lots of greens to add to salads and a few radishes. Still looking forward to more root veggies and our brassicas in the future.

Sadly, we did not make it to the farmers market this week to get the list. I have a feeling not much changed but next week we will be back with a full list.

Those peas are really pretty with the purple coloration. Your greens are delicous looking too. Your garden seems to be ramping up on production.

Love the purple peas. My little daughter said yesterday that I had better include peas in the fall garden, because they were her favorite garden food. I wonder if she would like the purple ones? I will have to show her the picture. (I'm going to Pin It.)

I love the sweet magnolias, though the birds and rabbits have devastated this years plantings so not much hope this year...

Lucky you, my peas aren't that big yet and with our weather I will be lucky to get some before it gets too hot.

I peas taste amazing...just like any fresh sugar snap pea and they turn dark purple when cooked. they are so beautiful its hard to want to eat them. :)

Congratulations on your peas. My crop failed last year - snails ate all the seedlings - but this year I have big pea plans. I do like the look of that purple podded variety you have.

Wow! I love that you have produce this time of the year. Right now it's all bottled veggies for us. And I enjoyed reading the update about you and your family. And thanks for the comment on my blog. I have to tell you, onions were tricky for me at first. In fact I had a great crop of red onions sprouted and after they reached the 4 inch height 90% of them died. So I don't grow red onions anymore. I grow Big Daddy (a yellow) and Green Bunching. They both do really well growing from seed. The green bunching are a type of green onion that is ready quite quickly. I don't even know why I start them inside. Just make sure not to over crowd them. And once you start growing them you can leave 2 or 3 to go to seed and you'll have plenty for next year. I love not needing to go back to the bulk seed store for those. Thanks again and good luck!
